Providing adults with learning disabilities in Wiltshire a chance of a normal and fulfilling life
Welcome to White Horse Care Trust
We are a Wiltshire-based care trust charity dedicated to providing residential and nursing care to adults with learning and other physical disabilities.
We provide a range of residential and nursing care services in 13 separate locations within the county and our professional, highly trained and well-motivated staff really do make a big difference to the quality of life of the people in our care. We place our residents at the very centre of all that we do and we are proud of the contribution which we make to their daily lives.
Our Services
Residential Services
We offer a unique living experience for all our residents, providing support and enabling every individual to achieve their goals and aspirations.
The Trust was created in April 1990 to help with the introduction of people with learning disabilities back into the community in the wake of the Long Stay Hospital closure programme. At the outset, the Trust managed 5 small residential care homes, had very little organic management capability or infrastructure and made use of staff employed on contract from the National Health Service.
We have moved on significantly since then; we now operate 18 residential and nursing care services in Swindon and in Wiltshire, providing support to 88 individuals; we directly employ over 250 members of staff and we have the necessary administrative, financial and personnel functions in place to provide effective management of all aspects of the Trust's work.
We have the capacity to provide support to 88 individuals. All of our residents have a learning disability while many have other physical disabilities. The majority of our residents have been in care for much of their lives although this percentage is decreasing with time as other younger residents leave their family homes and come to the Trust. The age range is large with our youngest individual being aged 23 and the eldest 85! We have broadly similar numbers of men and women in our care.
