Working with people with profound and complex disabilities, then here’s an excellent local opportunity for a Registered Nurse to make a real difference to the lives of Individuals with physical and learning disabilities.

The Trust is recruiting for a Qualified Learning Disability Registered Nurse (RNLD) to our residential nursing home for young adults with Learning Disabilities in Swindon and a Waking Night Qualified Learning Disability Registered Nurse in Pewsey. An RGN/RMN with relevant residential experience will be considered.

As a member of the nursing team you will be expected to support the Lead Nurse and Services Manager in all aspects ensuring high standards of Care delivery and compliance.

Your role will also be to assist in and support staff to achieve high quality care through innovative and evidence based practice.

As an RNLD You will have:

  • Knowledge of social and health needs of people with profound disabilities and rights of people with a learning disability.
  • Understanding of the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Adults.
  • As a RNLD you must be able to work on your own with excellent communication skills to be able to converse easily with residents, their families and members of staff.
  • Ability to ensure residents’ needs, wishes and aspirations are acknowledged and met wherever possible.

You will be expected to deliver high quality care and support, ensuring that the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of the service users are recognised, assessed and met. This will include involvement in the development, implementation and review of person centred care plans that meet all the Trust’s policies and procedures and associated codes of practice and legislation.

It is essential that you possess knowledge of the social and health needs and rights of people with profound disabilities. Able to work on your own initiative and in the absence of the RHM and Nursing Services Manager, you must demonstrate excellent all round communication skills and be NMC registered and hold a valid PIN number.

You must be flexible and available for shift work including weekends and bank holidays and be willing to undertake training to meet the needs of the service.
